Silent Walk

We had a great day, gorgeous weather, and a successful Walk. We raised $2,762.00!! Thank you to all the participants, volunteers, SEDHHS Board of Directors and Staff who made it a great event. Pictures of the Silent Walk can be found on our Facebook page, Moncton Deaf. We appreciate everyone’s continued support and look forward to seeing you at next year’s 2nd Annual Silent Walk on Saturday, June 2, 2012.

2nd Prize $100.00 winner: Jessica Fennel of Moncton. SEDHHS would like to congratulate Jessica as well as express our appreciation to her for immediately donating the $100.00 back to SEDHHS.

1st Prize Apple iPad winner: Katie Morgan of Enfield, NB.

Congratulations to both winners and to all who supported our fundraising event. SEDHHS raised $1,977.00.

Registration for Parenting Skills Program - United Way Program Funding

August 30, 2011

United Way Greater Moncton and Southeastern Great NB has granted a $9,000.00 Program Grant to South-East Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services Inc. to be able to offer a Parenting Skills Program to those whose lives are affected by deafness and/or hearing loss.

South-East Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services is accepting registration now for the Parenting Skills Program. The program will begin on September 26, 2011 and continue until June 22, 2012. The primary focus will be on parenting your deaf or hard of hearing child/teen/young adult. As well as, skills and resources for deaf parents parenting a hearing child/teen/young adult. Parents, grandparents, foster parents and caregivers are welcome.

This program will provide interaction with parents who have experienced the particular challenges in parenting when hearing loss is present and with adults who have been hard of hearing or deaf since birth. The program will offer practical, timely advice on such issues as education, Kindergarten readiness, technical devices, social interaction, healthy living, stages of child development, and language/communication development.

Sign Language Classes

Love ASL South-East Deaf & Hard of Hearing Services is now accepting registration for American Sign Language classes, Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as registration for Baby and Toddler Sign.

Students age 16 & up are welcome with parental approval; parents signature will be required if student is age 18 and under. Students under the age of 16 will require having a paid parent participating in the class.

Each ASL Level runs for 10 weeks, 1 night a week, for 3 hours (6 to 9pm). Baby and Toddler Sign classes run for 6 weeks, 1 morning a week, from 10 to 11am.

Classes take place at SEDHHS on Main Street in Moncton.






United Way -- Centraide - We've been a member agency of United Way since 1988. Funding is directed to programs including technical aids and interpreting (ASL / LSQ / Oral). We are grateful for this support, without which we could not possibly offer these programs.
